Online SecurityInformation Collected
NEFCU may collect certain general or technical information that will not allow us to identify you. For example, this may include the type of browser, operating system, ISP and the search engine or link that brought you to our site.
NEFCU uses cookies within our PC Banking application and within certain third party functions (a cookie is a piece of data that a web site can send to your browser, which is then stored on your computer). There are links from our site to other sites, and upon leaving our site to enter the site of a third party it is possible that you may be served with a cookie.
Within PC Banking, we do record the details of your use of this delivery channel (just as transactions performed at a branch or by phone are recorded).
NEFCU's Online Security Measures
The goal of NEFCU is to provide our members with the convenience of Internet delivery channels and to maintain the privacy of their confidential information. NEFCU's PC Banking application uses industry standard security features, as outlined below, to assure the confidentiality of this information.
- Access to your accounts through PC Banking is provided only after your application is verified.
- NEFCU's PC Banking application and nefcu.com's application areas use secure communication, which means that they will only allow browsers that support Secure Socket Layers (SSL). SSL ensures that electronic data communicated between your browser and NEFCU sites cannot be read by a third party even if the data is intercepted. NEFCU suggests that you use a browser with 128-bit encryption, readily available from manufacturers such as Netscape or Microsoft.
- PC Banking at NEFCU requires that you enter your member number and Personal Identification Number (PIN) to verify your identity, and the application denies access after a certain number of invalid attempts.
- NEFCU's PC Banking application has a timer that will end your session if you do not interact with the site for a predefined period of time.
- NEFCU's PC Banking application uses a state of the art firewall that serves as a control point to stop invasive data from entering our systems and assuring that only authorized data leaves our systems.
- NEFCU's PC Banking application uses the services of VeriSign's Global (128-bit) ID service. (VeriSign is a leading provider of encryption technology for secure transmission of data in an electronic commerce environment.) This service allows us to exchange information with members world wide using 128-bit encryption.
